Job Title: MLS Blood Bank Supervisor
Location: Las Cruces, NM
Salary: $60,000 - $75,000 annually
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated MLS Blood Bank Supervisor to join our team in Las Cruces, NM. As the Blood Bank Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of the blood bank, ensuring the safe and effective preparation, testing, and distribution of blood products. You will also supervise and mentor a team of laboratory professionals while maintaining high standards of quality, compliance, and patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage the blood bank department, including overseeing staff and daily operations
- Ensure accurate blood collection, testing, crossmatching, and blood typing
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., CLIA, AABB, FDA) and ensure quality assurance protocols are followed
- Coordinate and supervise the preparation and distribution of blood products for patient use
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to blood products or testing results
- Provide training and education to staff on blood bank procedures and safety protocols
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure timely and accurate blood transfusions
- Ensure all documentation related to blood products and transfusions is accurately maintained
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS)
- MLS (Medical Laboratory Scientist) certification or equivalent; ASCP certification preferred
- Proven experience in a clinical laboratory, specifically within a blood bank or transfusion services department
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively
- In-depth knowledge of blood bank technologies, blood typing, crossmatching, and transfusion safety
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
